A server room, or simply a server room, is a dedicated room in which special conditions are created for the full operation of servers and communication equipment. Firstly, it provides reliable protection of servers, switches and other similar equipment from the negative effects of the environment, allows you to maintain a certain pressure and air composition, temperature and humidity in a limited space.
Secondly, the server room protects the equipment from power failures and instability, which are not uncommon in many cities of our country. UK49s Teatime Results in 2022. Teatime Results Draw takes place at 5:49 pm (UK time) from February to October, and 4:49 pm throughout the rest of the year.
Thirdly, the server room greatly simplifies the maintenance of computing and other equipment. Agree, it is much easier to carry out the necessary work when all of it is located in one place than when it is located on different floors and / or in different buildings of the building.
Fourth, this room provides physical protection for server and telecommunications equipment from unauthorized access. We are not necessarily talking about intruders trying to steal servers or information – the careless actions of an ordinary cleaner can cause great harm.
Server room requirements
In order for the server and telecommunications equipment, and with it the entire network, to function for a long time and properly, it is necessary that the room in which the equipment is located meets a number of requirements. They can be divid into four groups:
- general character;
- applied to electrical equipment and power cable routes;
- imposed on telecommunication spaces and routes;
- finally, for the equipment installed in the server room.
General requirements
The minimum allowable server room area is 12 sq. m. The ceiling of the room must have a height of at least 2.44 m. When calculating the area of the room at the design stage, you need to take into account how much equipment will be install in it and how many employees will work.
It is recommend to allocate a room without windows for a server room. If this condition is met, the equipment will receive additional protection from sunlight and unauthorized entry. The door must be at least 2 m high and at least 0.91 m wide.
The ceiling of the room must have reliable waterproofing, which would protect the equipment from water leaks. Installing a false ceiling is not recommended.
The floor of the room must be at least 10 cm higher than in other areas of the building. The arrangement of a raised floor is recommended – it will allow you to conveniently place all the necessary communications.
Particular attention should be paid to the light system. It should provide an illumination level of at least 500 lux. The value is measure at a height of 1 m in the horizontal plane.
The electromagnetic radiation in the server room should be controll. Its level should not be more than 3 V / m, it must be controll throughout the entire frequency range.
The room must have a pressure of at least 147 Pa higher than that recorded in neighboring rooms.
The minimum allowable temperature in the server room is 15ºС, the maximum allowable temperature is 32ºС. Ideally, the temperature should be between 18 and 27°C. The optimal values of relative air humidity are from 20 to 80%, the rate of its change is no more than 6% per hour. If it is not available, an autonomous air conditioner must be install in the server room itself.
The maximum allowable level of dust content in the room is 0.75 mg / cu. m. Restrictions on the content of certain substances in the air of the server room are in force and must be observe: for example, the concentration of hydrocarbons should not be higher than 4 μg / cu. m/24 hours.
Cable system and electrical equipment
For uninterrupted and safe supply of servers and communication devices with power, you need to check the condition and location of the power cables. They must have high-quality insulating sheaths made of material, which, even with group laying, do not spread combustion and do not emit hazardous gaseous products when exposed to flame. In the marking of such cables there are abbreviations “ng” or “HF”.
The power supply scheme of the server room must correspond to at least category II. This means that it must have two independent power centers, as well as at least one uninterruptible power supply. Uk49s is the most frequent draw-based lottery game. In this lottery, you have to pick six numbers from 1 to 49. Then match them with a lottery. The more the number matches with the lottery number, the more your win.
For every 3 linear meters of the wall of the room, there must be at least one double socket with grounding. An alternative criterion for calculation is the number of server racks: each of them must have at least 2 sockets connected to independent power cables.
In the server room, it is impossible to place and turn on electrical equipment that is not related to computing and communication technology – in particular, designed for centralized climate control, water supply, and others.
It is necessary to ensure the stability of the power supply so that the servers can work during power outages or fluctuations. This will require online uninterruptible power supplies. The total power of the sources located in the room should not exceed 100 kVA. If this value is higher, the power sources must be located outside the room.
The electrical system of the server room must be connect to the main electrode of the building.
Telecommunication routes and spaces
The server room contains active communication equipment that needs special attention.
When designing a room, it is necessary to provide for the placement of communication cabinets in it. Each of them should be located as close as possible to the center of the zone it serves.
When determining the dimensions of the cabinet, you need to take into account the area of the building that will be service by it. So, if the area does not exceed 500 sq. m, you will need a cabinet with dimensions of 3×2.2 m, and if the area reaches 1000 sq. m, the dimensions of the cabinet should be 3×3.4 m.
Cabinets shall have outward opening or sliding doors having a height of 2000 mm and a width of 910 mm. Doors should not have central stops and sills.
Each communication cabinet must provide a level of illumination of at least 540 lux. It must be measure at a height of 1 m above the floor.
Electrical equipment should not be place in cabinets, except for that which is necessary for the operation of telecommunications devices.
Hardware cords and cables must be terminate at communications equipment as specified by the manufacturers. Transfer of termination points is not allow.
Room equipment
When designing a room, pay attention to server racks. Their most common varieties are 19 inches wide. They install standard server cases – the so-called rackmount.
Mounting holes are located on the vertical supports of the server racks every 1.75 inches. The specified value is one unit (1U). Rackmount enclosures, in which modern servers and communication devices are assemble, have a height slightly less than 1U, which makes it easy to install them in racks.
Pay attention to the configuration of server racks – it may be different. You need to choose it taking into account the characteristics of the equipment and the budget of the organization. The design of the simplest and most inexpensive racks includes only vertical supports. More advanced models have doors, cooling systems of various types, indicators, and other devices. As a rule, the more options, the more convenient the rack, and the more secure the server equipment it provides.
Pay close attention to climate technology that provides a certain relative humidity in the room (in relation to a server room, its ideal level is 40-50%). Please note that high humidity can cause condensation to accumulate on the pins and tracks of the boards, which can cause them to oxidize and short out. Low humidity is also not welcome – it provokes the formation of electrostatic charges that can damage equipment.
