Tackling Climate Change at an Individual Level

June 13, 2022 by rabiamuzaffar Leave a Comment

Human practices have had a very bad effect on the environment. We have acted so irresponsibly that we are now facing repercussions in the form of climate change. When we say “climate change”, it not only means heatwaves but it also means extremely cold temperatures too. It means altered rainfalls and means a lot more too. You can read all about climate change on the internet, all you need is a good internet service provider such as Xfinity, which has amazing internet services and you can browse like a breeze and read up more on climate change. Here are some ways you can individually fight climate change with some practices.

Try planting as many trees as you can

One of the most effective ways to tackle climate change is to plant as many trees as you can. Trees are known not just to regulate temperatures but also to cleanse the air of toxins and they produce an abundance of oxygen. This makes the air healthier to breathe in and generally makes the air more cool and windy. The way you can take this is that you could even start a project or a drive that is dedicated to planting trees around your area. You would just need to make sure you water your plants often so that they do not die. The trees might take some time to grow but once they do, they will be very beneficial to the environment. Creating more green spaces also makes the area very aesthetically pleasing.

Shift to renewable sources of energy

One of the ways you could be more environmentally friendly is by shifting to more renewable means of energy. Currently, we rely very heavily on non-renewable sources which include fossil fuels such as petroleum and diesel. One of the factors that should be taken into account is the fact that these sources will deplete very soon. Upon burning them, they release harmful gases such as Oxides of Nitrogen and Sulphur. You can shift to more reasonable means such as shifting to solar power, especially to produce electricity. The surplus energy can be sent to grid stations so other people can benefit from it as well. Similarly, you could have a small wind turbine on the roof of your house so it could generate electricity through wind. If everyone installed solar panels on their roof, it would cut down on the usage of fossil fuels and would create much cheaper electricity. More people could benefit from this and the air would be much cleaner.

Shifting to Electric Vehicles

There has been quite a trend of shifting towards electric vehicles. Vehicle companies such as MG Motors and Audi have been working on manufacturing cars that run on electricity. It costs very cheap to run these cars as they require little to no maintenance. All they need is a strong battery that runs flawlessly and there is even a reduced tariff on these vehicles. All you need to do is to fully charge these vehicles and you can travel without any emissions. Cars that are entirely electric have no emissions in the form of gases, which is why they also lack a tailpipe.

Carpool and mind your driving skills

If you can’t afford to get an electric vehicle, you can choose to carpool instead and you can split the cost. You could even opt for public transport since that reduces emissions at an individual level. Carpooling does the same as it has the same concept as public transport, more people in one vehicle. Even as you drive, there are certain practices you can do that can reduce the emissions from your car. You need to make sure that you drive more calmly and do not accelerate suddenly. Try not to be an aggressive driver and try not to brake too much. This would make sure that your engine is running more efficiently and would help in reducing the emissions from your car.

Try to recycle or reuse products more

Recycling and reusing reduce the need to re-process things and since processing makes use of energy, that also results in global warming and climate change. If you reuse products or recycle them, you would stop the need to process items and would be saving up on energy as well. You could even pass on items to other people as hand-me-downs until the life of the product is reached. In order to initiate a change, you need to be the first one to do it. You can have a greater outreach through the internet, so be sure to contact Xfinity customer service to get an internet connection as soon as possible.

In Conclusion

The world needs people to be more sustainable. They need to have more sustainable practices to save the planet before it’s too late. Extreme temperatures have been affecting daily practices and in no time it would be impossible to sustain life on Earth until we start working to protect it.
