My partner and I have been wanting to visit Kashmir for quite some time now. It would be the first trip we’d be taking as a married couple, and we wanted to go somewhere special. A colleague recommended Thrillophilia to us; after a brief perusal of the Thrillophilia excellent reviews on the many Kashmir packages offered by them, we chose the Gulmarg Tour package for ourselves. We were looking for a package that lasted less than a week, and this particular tour was to last 6 days and 5 nights.
The booking of the tour itself was rather easy, and we received an instant confirmation message as well. As the Thrillophilia Gulmarg reviews had claimed, the trip package took care of everything pertaining to the trip. The tour commenced immediately upon our arrival at the Srinagar Airport. We were met by our tour guide, who helped transfer us to Dal Lake. Dal Lake is renowned for its hospitable houseboats, and we were to stay in one on our very first night in Srinagar. Both of us were really excited at the prospect of it.
Upon arrival at the boat, we checked in and squeezed in a little bit of rest after the long and tiring journey. We were served a traditional lunch at the houseboat itself. Our evening was kept reserved for a Shikara ride on the Dal, which turned out to be as magical as we had expected! We had planned to shop a bit after the boat ride, but having tired out after a day this long, we decided to head back to the houseboat and call it a day.
The next day, we ventured out on a sightseeing tour of the city. Our first stop was the Shankaracharya Hill Temple, an ancient Hindu temple located atop a hill that looks out over the Kashmir Valley. The temple was rather crowded, and we spent a better part of the morning there. Towards afternoon, we were taken to the hotel where we were to stay for the night, and chose to dine in at the restaurant there. Post lunch began the second leg of sightseeing. We made our way to Shalimar Bagh, one of the six charming Mughal Gardens in the very heart of Srinagar. We spent a fair bit of time at the Gardens, and even got to enjoy a fantastic sunset amidst the mountains. The night was spent at the hotel in Srinagar.
The next day, we packed our bags and made our way to Gulmarg- the highlight of the Gulmarg Tour package. Upon arrival at Gulmarg, we were first taken to a hotel where we unpacked and stayed in for a little rest. The rest of the morning was spent on a number of leisure sports around the hill station. My partner and I decided to take a pony ride across the valley, and were met with glorious views of the hills around us. After lunch that day, the tour package took us to the famed Gulmarg Gondola. The highest of Gondola rides in all of Gulmarg, the Gondola ride greeted us with some of the most amazing views of the snow clad peaks below! After the magical ride, we made our way back to the hotel and spent the night there.
The next stop in our itinerary was Pahalgam, an unexplored hill station close to Gulmarg. The ride to Pahalgam was home to resplendent views, and we stopped awhile to admire the temple ruins that fell on our way. Once at Pahalgam, the group was free to spend their day however they liked. The two of us chose to take a river rafting tour; although neither of us have ever rafted before, the experience turned out to be quite fun. Later, we walked around the town exploring the little cafes around the place.
The day at Pahalgam was quickly followed by the last day in Sonamarg. At Sonamarg, one witnesses the magical beauty of open green meadows melting into the ice capped peaks of the Himalayas. Here too, the tour group was free to spend their day per their leisure. My partner and I headed over to Manasbal Lake, and tried our hand in fishing, which is another activity that neither of us have tried before. As it turns out, there were many firsts in the trip. The tour was our very first experience with Thrillophilia as well, and it exceeded all of our expectations. True to the Thrillophilia Positive reviews, all our needs were met and taken care of. Our hotels were arranged at every stop, and so was our sightseeing tour. All the necessary COVID precautions were followed at each step as well. I’ve never experienced a more hassle free trip before. I cannot wait for our next trip with this team!
