Lace Front Wig Apply Guide - How To Wear & Remove Lace Front Wigs?

Front lace wigs have gained popularity thanks to the most natural look. The mesh on the front is designed to mimic the natural hairline. Lace hair is hand sewn and thickens deeper into the front lace wig to best replicate real hair. The presence of lace allows you to experiment with both low and high pinnacles. In this article, we explain how to properly put on a lace front wig.

Get Ready To Put On A Wig

1. Perform A Skin Test

A lace front wig is put on with a special glue or wig tape so that the wig fits the head as well as possible. Before applying the adhesive additives to the scalp, it is worth doing an allergic test. This will ensure that the tape or glue does not sensitize us and cause irritation. Put a small amount of glue or a piece of tape on the back of your hand. If there is no allergic reaction in the form of a visible reddening in a certain area within the next 24 hours, the product is harmless to us. There are commercially available hypoallergenic tapes and adhesives that work well for people with sensitive skin.

2. Straighten Your Natural Hair

In order for the front lace wig to look natural after putting it on, our hair should be as flat as possible. Short hair is enough to comb and straighten with a gel and thin bobby pins. If our strands are curly or very wavy, it’s worth thinking about braiding them into flat braids next to the scalp. First, tie your long hair into a low ponytail, then wrap it in a loose bun, securing with pins for stability.

3. Put On The Wig Cap

The next step is to put a special wig cap on your hair, which is most often a thin, flexible mesh. This is to further smooth the hair and also prevent it from getting tangled. The cap must carefully conceal our hair, including the hair at the nape of the neck. If you applied gel or varnish to your hair when straightening, wait until it dries completely. If your human hair is very short and straight, you can safely skip this step. We always attach two caps to each of our wigs.

4. Clean The Skin

Before putting on a front lace wig, make sure your skin in the forehead area is sebum free. After washing your face with a preparation you use daily, wash the area around the hairline with an alcohol-based substance using a cotton pad or swab. If your skin is very sensitive, many wig shops offer special hypoallergenic products.

How To Wear A Lace Front Wig?

1. Check That The Wig Fits Well

Before applying glue or tape, check if the wig fits the circumference of our head. To do this, put the wig on your head, gently tighten it and adjust it with the help of the straps inside. Currently, most of the products on the market allow the circuit to be self-regulated, which is a great help. The front lace wig shouldn’t move when you move your head, nor be too tight.

2. Short The Tip

Once we’re sure that the front lace wig is a good fit, it’s time to trim the top. The mesh should be long enough and shaped to match our natural hairline. If we have doubts about being able to do it ourselves, it is worth going to a qualified hairdresser who will do it professionally. It is important to use sharp scissors to avoid fraying the tip. Tailor’s scissors are best for this.

3. Apply Adhesive Or Tape

Once the lace front wig is properly prepared, we can take it off and proceed with the application of glue or tape. This is the last moment for possible circuit corrections with ribbons. When you choose a wig band, it is best to prepare about 6-10 small pieces. Fasten the fragments along the hairline so that they do not protrude beyond the wig, but also not too low. The elements of the band should be as close together as possible so that there are no loose gaps anywhere when the wig is put on. It’s good to do this close to the mirror so the tape sticks relatively symmetrically. When we are sure that the tape is firmly attached to the skin, we can remove the product’s protection and expose the other part.

If you use glue, apply it evenly along the hairline in a thin layer. It’s good to use a small, precise makeup brush, for example for eyeshadow. Before using the glue, read the instructions on how long it will take to wear the wig. Soft adhesives take time to partially dry before they become tacky. By using hard glue, the wig can be put on immediately.

4. Put The Wig On

Apply the lace front wig and carefully match all the edges. Start by adjusting the back and only pull the wig forward until it covers the hairline. When you are sure everything is in place, attach the front piece of lace to the ties or glue previously attached. We advise you to ensure your wig fits properly as it can be very difficult to remove if the mesh is attached to a sticky product.

5. Style Your Wig

After you’ve put on the front lace wigs, you’re ready to start styling. Remember to comb it carefully and not rip off individual hairs. It is also worth being careful when using accessories such as cufflinks or elastic bands for styling so that the delicate belt does not get tangled. Both natural and synthetic lace front wigs can be heat styled. If your wig has waves or curly strands and you prefer straight hair, you should use a flat iron.

How To Remove Lace Front Wigs?

The most important rule – never pull the tip! Attempts to force the net away from the adhesive or tape may cause irreparable damage to the product. To remove the lace front wig, it is best to use a special liquid for dissolving wig glue or baby oil, which is also a safe solution. Do not use soluble products for other purposes as you can dissolve the synthetic lace fibers. After a few minutes of rubbing, the glue will loosen and we will safely remove the wig.
